Thank You Intuition
Sometimes I lose connection with that part of me that “knows what she doesn’t know.” Travel reconnects me.

Today I find myself in Avenches, Switzerland, a beautiful, historical town. My first discovery is remembering that I do have intuition and that I might listen to her more often. 😉
I have a couple of weeks off of my regular yoga schedule as my clients and I follow the local school schedule. So I decided to travel. I began looking around for inexpensive, quirky places to stay. That is what I tend to love; I would rather spend money on experiences (like eating) than on a fancy place to stay. And, usually I find the quirky inexpensive places have so much more character. It seems the hosts are really interested in sharing what they love and keeping accessible. 🙏🏼
So, for well under 100 Chf a night I found a little cottage in what seemed like the middle of nowhere to me (what did I know?). Avenches (pronounced Ah-vansh) is located in the canton of Vaud, not far from Neuchatel, Lausanne and Bern. I read that it was named as one of the “Beautiful Villages of Switzerland” and once I confirmed that I could get to the cottage by train and walking, I booked it for two nights.
It was when I began to look into where I heading that the magic began. Avenches is a charming medieval town that used to be the capital of the Roman Helvetia. I LOVE HISTORY! SO OF COURSE I LANDED HERE. Thank you intuition.
I arrived and walked through a castle to get to my little cottage. The host greeted me and suggested I light a fire in the tiny charming wood burning stove, which I soon did. In the middle of the floor of the cottage is a well, covered over with glass, lit from above. That was my night light. Stone walls, beams, a little kitchen, lots of windows, this place exudes charm. Thank you intuition. You did it again!
Now I’m off to explore the town. It’s a beautiful crisp, cold sunny day, destined to warm up this afternoon. Life is good. Intuition lives, and she rocks.
Follow up - I did explore the town and wow! There is so much to discover from the Roman times, as well as charming medieval streets. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE MUSEUM, full of beautiful, large artifacts and interactive exhibits. I’ll definitely go back!
