Choosing your path, now. And now, and again now, and yes, well you get the idea.
Living moment to moment isn’t just ok, as in, yes, I’m allowed. It’s incredibly satisfying.
Listen or read. Thanks!
I’m traveling again today. Yesterday my son asked if I was going to, and if so, where? I told him I wasn’t sure. This is the beauty of the passes I have1 that allow me to decide at the last minute if I want to travel. There are actually several reasons I don’t decide until the morning when I wake up…I love the freedom of deciding in the moment. It’s one of my favorite ways to practice presence. Wake, up, check in. Do I want to travel today? If not, no problem. I can change my plans. It is so good to not feel tied down to a plan.
I once traveled when I really wasn’t feeling great. The day was ok, but after that I promised myself I wouldn’t should myself into traveling just because I had said I was going to.
Not deciding things until actually needed and trusting that all will be well anyway is a great way to practice presence. I take a deep breath, check in, and then choose how to walk on the planet today. Yes, I am lucky to have this freedom, and I’ve chosen this; I realize I have been setting my life up so that I can live this way. I’m not sure I was so aware that that’s where I was heading, yet piece by piece I let go of the things I didn’t love about my life and stepped into what I do love. YES!
So this kind of traveling is an outcome of choosing to do what I love, and trusting that the universe will support me. It is an outcome of letting go of listening to my ego or fearful voice, (you know, the one that says I should go do something productive and follow the rules and what will people think voice), and instead trusting myself, my other wise voice that knows I am ok.
Oh the temptation to slip into berating myself for this is still strong. I can hear the “Well aren’t you lucky to live this life and meanwhile there is violence, injustice, terror and many other forms of dis-ease on the planet. So why should you get to live this life?”
Deep breath Rylla. I get to live this life because it is true for me. And when I am living this life, I am in the strongest place to make a difference. Not in the way someone else thinks I should, but in my own way. And what way is that?
Sharing everyday mindfulness. Inviting people to connect with their bodies through yoga. Building community. All this so that you too, those of you who choose to, can also find your way of listening to your sage voice and making a difference in your own way.
Speaking of making a difference, here’s an opportunity. We (David and I) will be hosting a simple dinner at our home in Basel in July. We will provide a basic meal, water, juice and wine. I am asking any interested in joining in person (or virtually after dinner) to pay 50 Chf, $50, 50€, whatever, all of which will go to supporting Ukraine through the ICRC, International Committee Red Cross based here in Switzerland.2
This is a way of sharing what we have and being together in meaningful conversation, supporting each other as we support those in need. Since we moved to the heart of town it has been my dream to share our home in this way. I really hope you will attend.3

"So this kind of traveling is an outcome of choosing to do what I love, and trusting that the universe will support me" I absolutely loved this. I love my home and traveling always gives me a little adrenaline rush. Partly because of the fear and partly of excitement.
I started making a checklist 5 years back to check in with my body. You know beginning from gut health to how heavily was i breathing due to the upcoming travel. Haven't been that comfortable. Having said this, I always have this feeling at the back of the mind that the world today will be kinder and better to me. It will help me learn and savor new experiences and that's when I let go.
The river, I am looking at the mountain range and whoa!
And the title is enriching, I am adding this kind of pattern to my newsletter titles.
Loved the pictures, resonated with your words...
You living this life inspires me, as you always do, Magical Rylla. When we are present and free we contribute to the world at large in meaningful ways.
